DB3 focuses on the non-face elements of bodily care. I've separated these from works concerning the face—which I view as a singular, powerful statement—to focus instead on the rituals, gestures, and artifacts that construct the modern self. These works examine everything from manicures, creams, and exfoliants to massages, soaps, and pharmaceuticals, alongside contemporary ideals of fitness, and the specific gestures associated with outer beauty and self-maintenance.
